Originally called Hunger, and then written as an entirely different song called Dance Crazed and finally as Stay Out of the Shadows - all during October and into November 2014. Dance Crazed appears at the lead track on Liar Cake, and I put Stay Out Of The Shadows away. In September 2015 I redid the vocals and altered certain elements of the drum track, thinking I'd made the song sunnier. I gave it to Paul and he came back with a minor key bassline. Sometimes you just can't get away from a sad song.

I mentioned to Paul that some harpsichord might really fit sonically with the feel of his bassline and he agreed, so I set off adding harpsichord. The reed organ, the offbeat accent, gives the verses its tension and was a late addition.

I was fooling around with a puff organ, thinking I might put it on the bridge, when I wound up writing Prelude. I miss every singe one of my family who are no longer with me as I write this, and I think about them often, but I find that I do miss my grandmother the most.
